5 Low-Cholesterol Healthy Snacks Alternatives to Satisfy your Cravings!

MAY 10, 2018

So, just the other day, our team got together and started pondering over what soul food means to each of us. After tens of hundreds of options, banter over favorite foods, there was one kind of food that prevailed as the crowd favorite – fried food!

A bucket of fried chicken, a roadside hot wada pav, sizzling spring rolls, a packet of potato chips with ketchup, we had to stop discussing our favorites in order to stop salivating.

And as much as we love how amazing fried food looks or how it tastes even better, this food group is just bad news to us! Because as soon as you deep fry any item, the entire fat content of the oil is absorbed by the edible item.

This leads to higher levels of cholesterol in our body, which if left unchecked can lead to choked up arteries and heart attacks.

Did that piece of information stress you out? Take a breather and let us give you the awesome Healthy Snack alternatives to your favorite fried food.

1. Potato Chips

No prize for guessing, but these golden crisp slices of perfection have to be first on the list. Made out of potato, potato chips are high in fat and are extremely high in sodium, which is the reason behind you going back for seconds or thirds.

Alternative: DIP Baked Potato Chips

Our Baked Potato Chips are made with handpicked potatoes that are baked to a golden perfection which makes them 96% fat free and 99% oil free! It’s time to rejoice! We use sea salt and black pepper to season our baked potato chips, to ensure the sodium in our chips is in check, to keep your taste buds happy and you super healthy!

2. Fried Chicken

Who doesn’t love a good serving of fried chicken to end the week? High in fat, cholesterol and other bad for you elements, fried chicken is a nightmare for your arteries and waistline.

Alternative: Tandoori Chicken

Our recommended Healthy Snack alternative happens to be grilled, with a ton of tasty masala and juicy chicken! What more could anybody ask for? Tandoori Chicken or Chicken Tikka is the perfect alternative to fried chicken, plus it won’t leave your throat parched and begging for some sugar heavy soda!

Everybody’s favorite snack! Whether you eat chakli by itself or need a bowl of shezwan sauce to the side, this deep fried snack is something our weekend dreams are made of! Fried in oil that might be oiled, made of maida that will stick to your gut, let’s cut these right out from our favorite list!

Alternative: DIP Baked Masala Sticks

4. French Fries

How can you call for a burger and skip on french fries? It’s a choice that needs 100% commitment from you end along with massive will power. Equally bad for your health as any fried potato snack, french fries could do more damage as the ones that are sold commercially are processed heavily. So much so, that some of them contain only 20% potato and the rest are artificial elements!

Alternative: Homemade fries.

A healthy snack alternative to its unhealthy counterpart, you can make thes anytime and anywhere! Cut up your potato to resemble fries, sprinkle them with salt, pepper and garlic powder with a little bit of oil. Bake in the oven until perfectly crisp. Your family will love these!

5. Samosas

Our favorite indian snack – the samosa! Made with potatoes, covered with maida and deep fried in oil, this is snack is a one way ticket to cholesterol problems!

Alternative: Baked samosas

Use your traditional samosa mixture recipe, but use multigrain flour to make the outer casing! You could even reduce the size to make them bite size and travel friendly. Bake these babies up till they’re nice and crispy!
