Crowd pleasing dip recipes to go along with your chips

JUNE 20, 2019

What do a football game, Netflix night in or house party have in common? They all come with a side order of chips and dip! Try out these simple dip recipes at home to make your snacks the highlight of every event.

Cheesy dips

1. Fondue

To make a classic cheese fondue you need to begin by rubbing the pot you will be cooking in with garlic. Pour a single cup of white wine into the pot and let it simmer. Whisk together ¼ pounds of gruyère and emmental cheese with cornstarch, lemon juice and add salt and pepper to taste. You can dip your potato chips and tortilla chips in the fondue or pour it on top of canapes and give them that extra punch.

2. Pimento cheese

Mix together ½ pounds of grated cheddar and pimento cheese with cream cheese, mayonnaise, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, onion powder and minced jalapeno in a large bowl. Season this cheesy extravaganza with salt and black pepper.

3. Spicy cheddar

Blend cheddar, cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, garlic, paprika and cayenne peppers together. Once the mixture has a thick consistency transfer it to a bowl and season it with more cayenne peppers. Serve with homemade croutons for the perfect crunch.

Middle Eastern dips

1. Tahini dip

To make yourself some tahini at home you must puree ½ a cup of sesame seeds, lemon juice from 3 lemons, 2 teaspoons ground cumin and 1 minced garlic clove in a food processor. Add hot water as required and puree until the mixture turns smooth.

2. Hummus

For this Middle Eastern delight, start off by preparing a batch of tahini dip. Add a can of chickpeas, 3 tablespoons olive oil and ½ a cup of hot water to the tahini. Put the ingredients into a food processor for a delicious and healthy snack.

3. Garlic yogurt

2. Salsa

For a healthy and tasty salsa recipe you are going to need 2 cups of fresh tomatoes, cilantro, onions, 3 tbsp lime juice, salt and jalapeño. Chop the tomatoes, cilantro, jalapeño, onions and tomatoes into smaller pieces. Mash and mix everything together and garnish with salt and lemon juice.

3. Onion dip

To make this simple, and healthy snack you will need, non-fat greek yogurt, sour cream, mayonnaise, onions, garlic powder, olive oil and salt and pepper. Cook and stir the onions until they turn a nice caramel brown. Mix together the yogurt, sour cream, mayonnaise, onions, garlic powder. Wait for the caramelized onions to cool and then add them both together. Refrigerate the dip for at least two hours before serving.

As healthy as all these dips are, it’s often the accompaniments that add calories. Rather than dipping in potato chips and fried snacks, we suggest you try our baked whole grain chips to give you a healthy and tasty alternative. This healthy combination is a guilt-free way to enjoy your evenings with friends
